Modalities
In Addition to your full body chiropractic care
A modality is something that can be defined as "a particular mode in which something exists or is experienced or expressed" and is used by Chiropractors to describe accessory treatments for your Chiropractic care such as Kinesiology taping, Instrument assisted soft-tissue mobilization, and Guided Stretching.
Kinesiology Tape
Athletic or Kinesio taping is a method used by providers to help patients with function. A Chiropractor can apply it to help injured tissues with pain and swelling. It helps over worked tissues with performance and strength. It may improve hand & foot circulation and may improve nerve signaling pathways.
Instrument Assisted Soft-Tissue treatment
Instrument Assisted Soft-tissue treatment, otherwise known as IASTM, is a method where the doctor uses a tool to release the fascia, which is the tissue that surrounds muscles. One of the jobs of fascia is to help reduce friction upon muscle movement.
When friction is present during movement the muscles and joints become inflamed producing pain and loss of function. The goal with this technique is to make the fascia more pliable allowing all the body's movements to become smoother and more efficient.
Stretching
Stretching benefits the body in a number of ways. One of the physical aspects is that when we stretch, we are able to lengthen muscles, tendons and fascia. When we lengthen these tissues we are helping them to relax and function at a higher level; therefore relieving pain! This can stimulate the body into producing endorphins, helping you feel relaxed and happy.
